Which means that, a) it hopefully won’t die a massive Box Office death Stateside and b) Children under the age of 17 are now legally permitted to squirm next to their parents as graphic scenes of drunken oral sex play out in front of them.
But seriously, its a lovely film with stunning performances (especially from the magnetic Ryan Gosling), a beautiful soundtrack courtesy of Ed Droste and Grizzly Bear and a timeless, carefully rendered aesthetic reminiscent of Gus Van Sant’s Drugstore Cowboy (1989).
