Unlike most I did catch this in the cinema - and picked it up on DVD as well. Saying that I'll take In the Company of Men over The Business of Strangers anyday. It's certainly interesting to see similar dynamics played out among strong females but there's less that haunts after watching this movie where LaBute leaves a taste in the mouth akin to the guilt of having done the deed.

Great article though. Keep up the good work.

Another fab film review from Master McDonagh. How DID I miss this cinematic bitch-fight when it played in the cinema (or did it - it must have come and gone in the blink of an eye, like a cheap date). I did, however, really enjoy "In the Company of Men" so, if it is anything like, will keep it on my "To View" list. Thank you Fintan for another fabulous "Heads Up"!

If a writer's aim is to persuade, Mr. McDonagh has hit the mark again! Amazon sells this film on DVD for a mere $3.26, so less than the price of a latte. Um, SOLD.

Another great read - I loved "wheeling her perfectly packed existence behind her ...". The thought of an existence being perfectly packed - enough to send me into paroxysms of envy.

Huge plaudits for your restraint in revealing too much of the plot. Sadly I watched the trailer, and that seemed to tell me all I need to know. Happily my appalling memory will ensure it'll all be fresh and new when I get round to watching it.

Oh, and why do we not see more of Stockard Channing? Or is it just me...?

This film has totally passed me by until now - thank you. I might go and see it, just because I want to know what happens now! What a terrible title for a film though. I couldn't for the life of me remember it.

I'm sure people are raving about it for the right reasons, I just found it to be quite thin, hence the smoke-and-mirrors line. It's stylish but I thought there was very little to it in terms of insight.
